EU Officials Condemn US Move as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including the French president accused Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the travel bans were placed on figures that were at the heart of campaigns to introduce legislation governing American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce American platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote a senior US official in a social media post. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
