Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
